Arriving in the heat of early evening at a bustling Phuket airport, after a short domestic connecting flight, we were greeted with a warm smile by Mo, who settled us in the air conditioned comfort of our transfer car with a refreshing, eucalyptus-scented damp cloth and a bottle of water.

As we embarked on the 45-minute journey to the resort, the exhaustion of the past few months and 13 hours' travelling melted away.
